Convincing My Knee We’re Biking Across the U.S.

130 Days Until Launch
Yesterday, I officially added physical therapy to my cross-country training plan. The goal? Get my knee as strong as possible before we roll out on June 20.
I’ve had one knee surgery. I have arthritis. It’s the fun bone-on-bone kind. And one of my biggest worries is whether this knee will hold up to riding all day, every day, across the country.
For context, the farthest I’ve ever ridden on a trip is 1,100 miles. Which is impressive… until you remember that 4,000 miles is, in fact, significantly more than 1,100. (Math has confirmed this.)
So here I am—doing my exercises, listening to my physical therapist, and reminding my knee that we’re on the same team.
I’m dedicated.
I’m focused.
And I’m putting in the work.
Will it be enough? Time will tell.
But at least my knee knows we’re trying.
